Golden Nugget and his Show Girl Costume

These costumes are worn by my furbabies Diesel(golden nugget) and Rosie(show girl). My idea came after I visited our local Golden Nugget Casino for the first time and saw the beautiful show girls in their flashy and fabulous costumes! I told my husband that our girl Rosie who is a Rhodesian Ridgeback was leggy just like those girls! Then I looked at my tiny dog Diesel and thought hes a tiny little nugget and it all unfolded from there! For Rosies costume I tracked down some ostrich feathers and some gold material. For her headpiece I used some floral foam and fit it to her and covered it in yellow craft foam and added the feathers and of course some elastic to keep it on her head. For her "bustle" I took craft foam and covered it in a sequin material I had found and added gold deco mesh with a hot glue gun to the back. It was also attached with elastic. I then bought her a harness and some dog boots at a pet store and spray panted them gold. She was attached to the cart and actually pulled it and was a wonderful lead dog!! The cart arms were made from bambo I cut out of my yard and spray painted black. My husband drilled holes in both sides and attached it to the cart and we used carabiners to attach to Rosies harness. The cart wheels were from an old water hose cart and then we used foam boards to make the walls of the mine cart. I then added an upside down milk carton and some velvet fabric to the inside of the cart for the "Nugget" to perch on. For the nugget it was made with expanding foam and carved to fit diesel and spray painted to resemble the "Hand of Faith" nugget that is kept inside the Golden Nugget casinos (he was the "Paw of Faith"). As for the cost I believe it was less than 100 dollars to create.
