Spider & Fly Costume

My 10 year-old daughter said she wanted to be Black Widow from The Avengers for Halloween, but I thought an actual black widow spider would be much more fun! I made the legs out of foam pipe insulation and duct tape, and the abdomen is made out of a trash bag wrapped around a frame made out of more duct tape and pipe insulation. The legs are attached to a chest plate I made out of corrugate plastic "Garage Sale" sign I had laying around.

Can't leave out my 7 year-old son, so I made him a complementary housefly costume using similar materials as the spider costume. Only difference was adding the wings and compound eyes. Wings are made of foamboard and cellophane, and the compound eyes are made from styrofoam spheres from Michael's and fishnet stockings from a dollar store.
