This homemade costume for babies entered our 2012 Halloween Costume Contest.

A word from Jennifer, the 'Spider and Web' costume creator:

My son and I are wearing the costumes. I came across the idea on MarthaStewart.com. But of course I added my own special twist. My son is in a black sleeper. I stuffed socks and sewed those on. I attached strings from leg to leg so that all legs would move when he picked his arms up. I Gave him a toboggan with googly eyes. For my costume it is a white skirt and turtle neck. I used fabric glue to tack on ribbon and spiders. I completed the look with a spider headpiece that I made. Very fun costume.

I just found a white skirt, turtle neck and gloves. I then used fabric glue to tack black ribbon in a web pattern. Then I found little confetti cardboard glitter spiders and tacked them on too. My head piece I made out of a hair clip, tulle, organza and a large decorative spider. My son was in a long sleeved legged onsie or sleeper. I got 6 black socks and stuffed them with cotton. I sewed three on each side under his arms. Then I used ribbon and sewed one the the next and the next to his real arm so that when he raised his arms all the "legs" moved with him. I got a black toboggan and glued googly eyes to it. I also had some fur at the craft store I sewed to his back so he looked like a hairy black spider. That was about it. I painted my face white and drew on some webs and spiders.
