A word from Kristin, the 'Pina Colada' costume creator:
My daughters, Coral (2 mnths) and Capri (2 years) are sporting the PinaColada! I saw an adult pineapple costume on Pinterest, and decided to make a similar one for Capri and make Coral a coconut to match. I sewed a yellow shift dress and then cut out pineapple leaves out of green poster paper, glued them to a paper towel roll, and glued that to a headband. For the coconut shell, I papermached half a sphere onto a large bouncy ball, and a small half sphere for the hat onto a balloon. I covered the papermache sculptures with brown burlap, and glued dried brown natural raffia to the burlap. For inside the shell, I glued in quilt batting. On top of the coconut hat, I garnished it with a straw and tropical flower from my front yard.
