This homemade costume for men entered our 2014 Halloween Costume Contest.

A word from Adele, the 'Groot from Guardians of the Galaxy' costume creator:

My husband Jeremy is wearing the costume. After seeing Guardians of the Galaxy we knew that's what we wanted to be for Halloween. We headed to our local pawn shop and picked up a dremel. I was a little worried I would not be able to execute the costume because, I have never used a dremel in my life! I sewed the body suit with a zipper, then made a duct tape mannequin. I then, hot glued pipe insulation to the suit. After gluing I took tissue paper and tacky glue and made the bark..then did about 4 layers of paint. The bark pieces were made out of carved eva foam, they kept soaking up the paint so I had to spray them with hairspray. The mask took me 3 different times to get right. I used eva-foam and shaped it with my hair dryer. I then carved the mask and painted it. I used dollar sun-glass lenses for the eyes. Then hot glued moss to the mask and body. We had many trial and errors and ended up finishing just in time for Halloween. The first night we took it out the bark started to peel a bit (trial and error) apparently glue and tissue paper did not stick to the foam lol! I was Gamora and our son was Rocket. After trick or treating, we went to a costume party and people loved the costume! They jumped on him, wanted to be carried....(not such a good idea in 5 inch platform shoes) huh? We did not win the costume contest and a lot of people did not know who he was. A few lumber jacks got a kick out of taking pictures while chopping down a "tree-man". For my first home-made costume I think it turned out alright. Happy Halloween!
