The Sims Costume

My girlfriend and I decided to make our own costumes this year. We dressed up as "The Sims"

Costume type:  Costumes for Couples
Categories:Halloween Costumes, Video Game Costumes

This homemade costume for couples entered our 2011 Halloween Costume Contest.

A word from Paul, the 'The Sims' costume creator:

My girlfriend really enjoys playing The Sims so this year we decided to make own "plumbobs" - which are the little green glowing indicators that float above the characters in the game. Materials used: wire, balsa wood, green paint, cellophane, light source, plastic headband, hot glue, rubber cement.

How did you make this with these materials?

I'm also curious how it was constructed.

PLEASE PLEASE show my a tutorial on how you did this. I LOVE the sims and want to torture my husband with this idea.

Wondering if anyone ever found out how to make these?

Has anyone figured out how to make these :( I've found some on YouTube but they're all just plain green ones that don't light up :(

Try using a glow stick as the light

From what I'm gathering with the items listed, the balsa wood, are the thin round wood pieces you can get at a craft store. they used those to create the diamond shape, hot melt glue to glue the sticks together, green cellophane (also from craft store in the cooking aisle) used the rubber cement to glue cellophane to shape. Put in glow stick (I assume that's the light source they're saying?) strong wire to hold it up and glued or wrapped around a simple headband.
Takes a bit of work, but seems simple enough.
