A word from Teresa, the '1950's Bombshell Batman' costume creator:

Our son insisted that he be batman and daddy be joker! However, since suicide squad just came out we knew that DC villains would be running the streets of Gothem! We are not the type of family that tends to blend in with the croud. We decided if we were going to humor our son it would have to be done in a unique way. FLASHBACK! What would Batman, Joker, Harley Quinn, and Poison Ivy have looked like in the 50's?

Batman: The greaser.
Boots, leather jacket (a jean jacket that I dyed black) a batman logo shirt (hand stitched by yours truely), a batman mask (with a little steam punk feel created from a pair of minion goggles that I sawed through, filed down, and spraypainted gold), and of course a wrench for a weapon to go after bad guys with!

Harley Quinn: The poodle skirt wearing "pink lady".
100% hand made (no sewing machine) Harley Quinn style 50's poodle dress (with Harley's diamonds on one side and a little dead poodle on the other.... I know I know.... a little twisted.... but we are however talking about a very twisted little villain here), a black leather jacket (jean jacket that I dyed black), a mask that was big bulky and green until we filed it down and spraypainted it black, and of course Harley's mallet 100% handmade (made from two wooden rods glued together, cardboard, the inside of a wrapping paper roll, and stuffed with some walmart bags for stability... add a bunch of glue, some red and black paint, Harley's diamonds, joker cards singed by fire on the edges, and a bullseye that reads "your face here").

The Joker: The 1950's jock.
My husband found a mask from american horror stories and painted it to create one of the best joker smiles I have ever seen, sprayed his hair green, painted white face, 100% handmade 50's varsity letter sweater (done without a sewing machine), a bowtie I painted green, some dollar store sunglasses with the lenses popped out and painted to look joker esque, with jeans and tennis shoes to match the look.

Poison Ivy: The pinup.
100% handmade vintage halter dress (yes.... my sewing machine is out of commission.... sewn by hand), ivy vines from the dollar store (painted with a poisonous vibe), also with a mask (filed down to a more feminine design, painted with poisonous features with leafs glued onto it), skin painted with a green tinge, glamourously poisonous makeup, and a pin up doo to tie it all together.

We had a blast! The reviews from the neighborhood were wonderful, and most importantly the kids LOVED it!
