A word from Charlotte, the 'Chinese Dragon' costume creator:

Thank you for the opportunity to share this costume with you!! My husband and I and 6 of our friends are wearing the costume. I LITERALLY had a dream about this costume last Halloween after my friends and I won a local contest with our Snow White and 7 dwarfs costumes. My friends were pumped and couldn't wait until this year to dress up again!!!! Now to the build of the costume. It was pretty easy but describing the 'how to' is lengthy! I will try to shorten it as much as I can! :) The head...using a triangular shaped box, I spray painted it yellow and attached yellow and red plastic Hawaiian leis using packing tape and glue. Paper towel rolls make up the nose and horns. The eyes are foam plates painted and cut. I used poster board to paint flames for the head, nose & horns. Glow sticks were used in the eyes, nose, mouth and horns. A hula hoop was attached to the back of the head and attached to the body with packing tape and zip ties. The body...This was made with 5 yellow plastic table cloths taped together with packing tape. Four red plastic table cloths were taped to the yellow and cut into strips. I used hula hoops on the underneath side of the table cloths using packing tape giving the dragon its shape and for easy carry and transport. The body décor is made with gold metallic paper plates with red streamers, Christmas wrapping paper and gold garland. We are wearing red satin pajamas with gold Christmas garland wrapped around the legs. The women are wearing Chinese wigs with blackened eyebrows and eyes. The men in the group are wearing Chinese hats and black eyebrows and mustache. As far as cost, being a crafty person, I had almost everything I used. I would say I spent $150 or less on items I didn't have. It was a fun costume to make and wear!! Thank you for considering our costume for judging!!...now on to next years costume!
