Photo #1 - This is the back of the costume. It just kind of dragged behind him. This is the detachable part. Photo #2 - Side view Photo #3 - Close up of the eys. These were made out of plastic Christmas balls. I attached some black garden netting to make them look like insect eyes. Photo #4 - Here is the front of the costume. He is with his mother Ashley here. Photo #5 - He could not figure out why he had grown extra arms. Photo #6 - Here are Declan's brother and sister. I also made these costumes. Again, we wanted to go with a garden theme. Everybody loved the costumes!

This homemade costume for babies entered our 2014 Halloween Costume Contest.

A word from Rocky, the 'Caterpillar' costume creator:

This is my 2 year old grandson Declan and he is a caterpillar. My daughter Ashley has three children and we kind of wanted to go with a garden creature theme for all three of them. I didn't follow any patterns and most of the materials for the costume were scraps from my craft box. I used two pairs of green, hooded footed pajamas for the base of the costumes. The eyes are made from plastic Christmas balls. The chest piece is made from foam egg crate that is used on a bed. I hand sewed the rest of the costume and and used the stuffing from an old pillow to fill it. The body of the of this costume is detachable so he could fit into his car seat. I just used Velcro to attach it. I made this costume very comfortable but durable for his age. He really did not mind wearing it at all. Everybody loved it!
