Carmen Miranda Costume

I'm wearing an inspired look from Carmen Miranda, the beautiful Colombian singer know for her dramatic head dresses.

I've always wanted to be her for Halloween every since the early 90's as a child & finally I have all my pieces to create this beautiful puzzle.

I bought light weight fake fruit & placed them very strategically in each place with hot glue so the focal fruit would be the bananas on the side & the grapes acting as bangs & the pop of colors from the orange & apples would also be visible from the front.
I couldn't find any pineapples so I place the feathers out as if they were pineapple leaves.

For the skirt I thought bright red ruffles would be the right amount of dramatic for the look I was going for.

Depending on the size of your ruffles you can sew an elastic band to the skirt & cut a spilt on one side.

You CAN'T forget her accessories the more the better.

I took multiple gold & beaded necklaces to finish the of the shoulder ruffle shirt.

I also used necklaces & wrapped them around my wrist twice to create the look of multiple brackets.

I also arched my eyebrows with eye liner & thinned them out a bit to create a 30's Hollywood look with an early classic Hollywood red lip.

& last but not least you have to have opened toe plateforms to complete the look because Carmen wore her tall heels all the time to give her a little height.
