A word from Amy, the 'Bullet Bill' costume creator:
In our family costume theme of Super Mario Bad Guys, our terrier Jack was Bullet Bill this year. Both Bill and Jack are pretty quiet, dependable, and steady but Jack does not enjoy flying through the air or being shot out of a cannon (I assume). This costume was the hardest thing I made this season; I procrastinated and planned and procrastinated. How can the costume keep its shape, still be flexible enough to put on the dog, and, simultaneously, even remotely resemble a Bullet Bill? There were at least four different how-do-I-fit-this-shape-on-a-dog versions of the costume - each had to be ripped apart and started over. Does the dog head fit out the costume face part? Jack said, very emphatically, "No." Does the dog face fit out the top/back of the Bill? Not without Jack falling over. The version with Jack's head coming out of Bill's butt was just confusing. This feat of modern engineering cost about $5 and is composed of a circular wreath wire Frankensteined together with Amazon boxes for supports and felt for a casing and face/arms. Jack is a very good boy; he humored me almost beyond endurance and, for that, he got a cookie. And I got a pretty cute picture for the scrapbook. Happy Halloween!
