A word from Denise, the 'Boxtrolls' costume creator:
My 7yr old son, Christian really wanted to be a Boxtroll after seeing the movie. Since it just came out the end of September, there were no costumes to be had...so I had to get creative! I found a perfect box...free. With a box cutter I cut out 1 circle for the head and 2 for the arms. My son said it was a bit heavy so I cut out all the inner flaps of the cardboard. I then downloaded the artwork for the character, 'Fish'. I needed it to be larger so I re-sized, made 2 copies then cut, pasted them together and glued it to the front of the box. I bought a .99 can of black spray paint at Home Depot and used it to age the box a little. I hot-glued some felt around the neck hole for comfort. The Boxtrolls are bluish so my son wore blue pajamas, blue hair spray, face paint and rag strips around his legs...easy and inexpensive!
