A word from Tasha, the 'Black Rock Shooter XNFE' costume creator:
This is my XNFE (pronounced nah-fay) costume made entirely from scratch and modeled by me, Tasha Blanchard. She is a character from the video game Black Rock Shooter. I absolutely loved her design and decided to make this costume!
It took a total of 20 days to make, and around $200. I ordered pink contacts from an online website. The fingers of the claws are made from thin wood encased in expanding foam, which is hand carved, sanded. Then they were covered with poster board, and mounted on an aluminum bar. The rest of the claws are constructed with cardboard and plastic. The needle-like parts of the fingers are made from size 50 knitting needles. The ears are made from foam core, poster board and Styrofoam. A coat hanger wire is used as a harness to keep the ears upright. Both the claws and ears are hand painted. A heavily modified blazer pattern was used, and an old hoodie was cut apart and modified as a pattern for the hood. All of the other sewn pieces are patterned from scratch. This includes the crop top straps, box pleated skirt, belts, and tail. The tail is hand sewn and stuffed with poly-fill. The details on the shoes are hand painted. I cut and styled the wig, and also made my own fangs from fake finger nails which are attached to my teeth with denture adhesive.
I'm only 16 years old, and I want to encourage anyone of all ages and skill levels to express their creativity, and to not be discouraged if you think you're incapable of making the costume of your dreams!https://www.facebook.com/TashaLeeCosplay
