A word from Benjamin, the 'Aladdin' costume creator:
My daughters and I have been doing themes for the last few years and this is our third disney theme. The only costume purchased was jasmine's. Her shoes were painted and modified to match her costume. Aladdin's costume was all pieced together and fitted to her. The pants were tea stained to look worn. Her fez hat was made from solo cups and red felt. The abu monkey was stitched to her vest for full effect. The sash was cut from fabric. The genie costume was started by dying a white vest and harem pants. The bodypaint was airbrushed on. The top knot headpiece was built from a nerf dart, play dough container, wig sections and suction cup. Obviously painted and glued as well. The pattern on the vest was from cutting a stencil and using fabric paint. The cuffs were cut and heat molded sintra plastic, finished with stones and studs and painted. The functional magic carpet was built with a hoverboard as the engine and a couple carts and perfectly sized rug replica. It was the hit of the evening!
